A sensitive topic. We protect women and unborn life.
Responsibility & Life
Section 218 of the German Criminal Code, which regulates abortion in Germany, is a complex and emotional topic. "VisionDeutschland" advocates for a factual and responsible debate that respects women's autonomy while simultaneously protecting unborn life.
1. Women's autonomy
The decision lies with the woman. We fully support the woman's right to autonomy over her own body, as she is the one who bears the consequences of that decision in her life.
Comprehensive counseling
To best support women in this difficult situation, we advocate for comprehensive and outcome-neutral counseling. This should outline all options – from continuing the pregnancy to adoption to abortion. The goal is an informed and autonomous decision.
Justified reasons
VisionDeutschland acknowledges that there are life situations in which an abortion can be a responsible decision:
- Inadequate living situation: Financial hardship, studies, unstable partnership.
- Mental burden: Severe impairment of mental health.
- Medical indication: Danger to the life/health of the mother or severe harm to the child.
- Rape: When the pregnancy is a result of a crime.
2. Protection of unborn life
We are aware of the ethical dimension. The protection of unborn life is a central concern. We advocate for a Culture of Life. Every child is welcome. At the same time, we do not condemn anyone and focus on understanding and support for women in conflict situations.
The Heartbeat Regulation
We consider the first detectable heartbeat of the embryo as an important milestone in the development of unborn life. From that point on, a pregnancy termination should be only possible in absolute exceptional cases (e.g., danger to the mother's body and life or severe health damage to the child).
Promotion of Alternatives
We want to promote alternatives more strongly, such as adoption. Expectant mothers who cannot raise their child themselves are intensively supported to find a loving home for their child.
Massive financial assistance
No one should be forced to have an abortion due to financial hardship! Women who choose the child receive comprehensive social and financial assistance (higher child benefit, better care, flexible working time models).
3. Concrete measures
To bring our vision of responsible family planning into reality, we plan clear legislative and structural steps.
The law must be clear and logical: We will revise § 218 StGB and delete the contradictory passage about the „attempt“. The fact that an attempt is punishable, but the pregnant woman herself is not punished for the attempt, is illogical and will be corrected.
Expansion of the counseling obligation: The deadline regulation remains, but counseling will be more comprehensive. Women receive the best possible psychological and social support before, during, and after an abortion so they are not left alone during this time.
- First Abortion (Safety & Legality): Cost coverage for the first abortion by health insurance. Every woman should have access to a safe medical procedure regardless of finances.
- Repetition (Promote Responsibility): An abortion should not be a permanent solution. In repeated abortions, the costs must be self-paid (learning effect), to encourage responsible family planning and use of contraceptives.
Harshest Penalties for Coercion to Abortion: We will tighten penalties for those who force a woman to abort or cause the death of the child. Violence against women in this vulnerable situation will be punished with the utmost severity. Strengthening women's self-determination without compromise.
4. Open Debate: Finding Common Solutions
VisionDeutschland is aware that this topic moves many people and moral convictions collide. Our goal is not to dictate a single opinion, but to create a respectful space for all perspectives.
We invite all citizens to participate in this debate.
How do we conduct the dialogue?
- Citizen Dialogues: Events where people with differing opinions come into conversation.
- Online Platform: A dedicated platform for transparent and moderated exchange.
- Expert Collaboration: Involving medical professionals, ethicists, and lawyers for a well-founded discussion.
Our shared values
- Self-determination: Strengthen women's rights, freely decide over their bodies.
- Protection of life: Promotion of a genuine culture of life.
- Responsibility & Solidarity: Support in conflict situations instead of condemnation.
Responsible solutions through open dialogue
We are convinced that through an open and constructive dialogue we can find solutions together that meet the challenges of this complex and emotional topic.
