Freedom & Diversity of Opinion
GEZ Reform
GEZ Reform – More Freedom, Diversity of Opinion, and Quality for Citizens!
"VisionDeutschland", says: Public broadcasting belongs to the citizens! We want a strong and independent media offering that informs, educates, and entertains. More freedom, more quality, less coercion.
Maximum per month. Voluntary.
Those who want to use public broadcasting pay. Those who are not satisfied do not pay. That's how market economy and democracy work. We drastically reduce the GEZ fees to relieve all households and create financial breathing room.
Independence
- No state interference: Complete abolition of political interest control. Journalists report freely and critically without fear of censorship.
- Civic bodies: Reform of broadcasting councils. Appointment with representatives of civil society instead of party soldiers.
- Civic decision: Those who want to use broadcasting pay. Those who are not satisfied stop the payment – direct control by citizens.
Quality over quota
Enough with 'Political Correctness' and educational television. We want education, culture, and neutral information. No ideological directives.
- High-quality programs: Focus on education, information, and real cultural diversity for all social strata.
- Against 'Political Correctness': Orientation towards the real interests of citizens rather than ideological narratives.
- Investigative Power: Promotion of critical reporting as the 'fourth power' to check the powerful.
Transparency & Finance
The financing will be made fully transparent and traceable. Every expense will be publicly accessible to citizens.
- Open Books: Publication of all income and expenses for maximum accountability.
- Efficiency Improvement: Leaner administration and radical cost cutting in the apparatus.
Diversity of Opinion
Move away from a single viewpoint towards a broad spectrum of controversial debates to enrich opinion formation.
- Broad Spectrum: Ensuring that all socially relevant positions are heard.
- Alternative Media: Targeted promotion of free online platforms to strengthen diversity of voices.
Reception for All: Even non-payers can receive programs. The willingness to pay serves as a direct seal of citizen approval.
Digitalization
Massive expansion of online offerings and digital transformation of broadcasting for a modern media world.
Regionalization
Strengthening regional programs to ensure authentic reporting directly from the living spaces of citizens.
Independent control
Establishment of an entity to review journalistic standards and objectivity – commitment to truth.
The reform roadmap
Immediate measures:
- Fee reduction: Reduction of the GEZ contributions to 5 euros per month as a clear signal for change.
- Voluntary: Switch to a voluntary contribution model for direct citizen co-determination.
Independence & transparency:
- Politics exit: Final termination of any state influence on the broadcasters.
- Board reconstitution: Reform of decision-making structures by representatives of civil society.
- Financial audit: Full public disclosure of all cash flows and administrative structures.
- Opinion Diversity: Establishing a broad spectrum of controversial positions in the program.
- Alternative Promotion: Launch of programs to support free and alternative media platforms.
- Quality Assurance: Implementation of independent program control to ensure journalistic excellence.
Justification of the Time Model
The fee reduction and voluntariness are immediately implementable and strengthen citizen trust.
The separation of politics and media must occur as soon as possible to protect democracy.
Promoting opinion diversity and quality assurance is an ongoing long-term task.
Our Vision
We want a public-service broadcaster that serves citizens, promotes opinion diversity, and strengthens democratic values. A broadcaster that is independent, transparent, and of high quality.
