Court Reform
Justice is the business of the people! We bring common sense back into the courtroom and create a legal system that is co-designed by citizens.
Citizen juries – citizens decide too!
In serious crimes such as murder, manslaughter, rape or serious bodily injury, it is not only a professional judge who decides. A group of randomly selected citizens – the jurors – decide on guilt and innocence.
- Common sense: Bringing life experience and societal morality into jurisprudence.
- Beyond paragraphs: Judgments based on the population's sense of justice rather than pure legal texts.
The jurors consider not only the paragraphs, but also the circumstances of the crime and the personal situation of the defendant.
- Appropriate punishments: Better reflection of the seriousness of the crime and the individual guilt of the offender.
- Strengthen trust: Citizens see that law is not made solely by “highbrow jurists”. Increase acceptance and strengthen the rule of law.
Creative implementation – VisionDeutschland makes it possible!
The 'Citizen Jury'
We deliberately call the jurors “Citizen Jury” to emphasize active participation in the legal process. Citizens are participants, not mere spectators.
